February Snowfall

February 11th, 2010

8:30pm UPDATE:  DFW has broken a record.  The airport is reporting 8.7″ of snow and it’s still falling.  Another inch or two is expected.

It’s been snowing for a good 12 hours now.  Wow!  It’s so beautiful!  We have….I don’t know….I’m guessing a good 5-6 inches and it’s still coming down.

The National Weather Service says this is our snowiest winter in 32 years!  We’ve had just under 9 inches this season.  In Texas.  God is so cool!

Here is some video of the boys.  Kevin, Matthew, Garrett and Ewin.  Twister’s in there, too.  Enjoy!

Journal

January 30th, 2010

Hi Everyone!

Matthew has to write a weekly journal entry for English class.  His teacher always gives them fun topics.  Who is your favorite character in a book?  Tell me about your friends.  How was your Christmas?

This week the assignment was to write about Psalm 145.  I thought you might like to read it.  Enjoy!

Psalm 145 says that God is great.  I know that he is great because he made all the people, plants, and animals in the world.  One thing he has done for my family is heal my dog!  Another reason I know he is great is he can make something from nothing while we have to use an egg to make a chick and a seed to make a flower.  God is cool!

Matthew comes home from school very excited about his first field trip.  They are going to the science museum in February and will be riding the school buses to get there.

Matthew says to me in the car:  “Mom, I’m pretty sure it’s the buses that the football players ride to games.  If I see a seat with sweat, I’m taking it!”

Wow.   Earthworms, fish eyeballs, and sweat.

Count yourself blessed that I didn’t include video this week!

Need a Laugh?

January 20th, 2010

Here are some random things I’ve heard from Matthew the past couple of days.

  1. They worked with earthworms in science class yesterday.  “It was big, wet, slimy and I LOVED it!”
  2. We went to the park with Darcy and Garrett yesterday.  “Mom, I peed behind a tree in the woods.”  I suppose I should take some comfort in the fact that he said he searched for 10 minutes to find the biggest tree to hide behind.  (Yes Mom, we talked about this.  It won’t happen again.)
  3. The other day Matthew came home from Ewin’s.  He was holding a large plastic cup and beaming.  Was it a drink?  Nope.  Was it bugs?  Not even close.   ”Mom, it’s something even grosser.”  Hmmm…..What was it, you ask?  A fish eyeball.  Yes, you read correctly.  A.  Fish.  Eyeball.  Matthew asked for it and Winjing was kind enough to share.   How nice.  Matthew was overjoyed.

So, that’s how my week has gone.  And it’s only Wednesday morning.  I’ll say one thing.  Life with Matthew is always an adventure!
